WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
This term we will be learning about woodland.
What could I do at home to help?
Into the Woods
Visit a woodland.
Watch a documentary about woodlands.
Look on a map and see if you can find your nearest woodland.
Each week children are given a homework sheet which has around 6 activities on it. The activities cover a range of skills, such as writing, research and being creative.
The children can choose any activity from the sheet to complete weekly. Homework should be handed in on a Thursday and then books are returned to the children on Friday.
Please see homework sheet attached below.
Purple Mash is a great place to find new and interesting ways to complete your homework. The website can be used to complete any of the homework tasks (unless we specifically ask you not to).
Please name all your child’s clothes.
Please tick/write a comment if you have shared your child’s home reading book or any other reading activity at home.
Please ensure that children have correct PE kit including a tracksuit or jogging bottoms and jumper for outside PE. Can you also check that children have correctly fitting trainers (outdoor PE) and plimsolls (indoor PE).
BLUE CONTACT BOOK
Please use this book as a point of contact. Let us know if your child is feeling unwell, or if someone different is collecting them etc. We will use it to communicate general information. If you have any questions or concerns pop a note in the contact book and we can arrange a time to meet to discuss it.
Playground 8.30-8.45 am
Playtime and fruit snack 10.25 am
Lunch 12.00-12.25 pm
Gnomes - Monday and Tuesday
Goblins - Monday and Thursday
Pegasus - Monday and Thursday
The children have set reading book change days which are Monday and Thursday so all home reading books and yellow reading records need to be in on these days. If books need to be changed outside of those days, the children will need to ask an adult who will then let them know when it is convenient for them to do so.
Sometimes, children choose to read their own books instead of school books. This is fine and should still be recorded in the reading record to show that that is what is happening.
HOW YOU CAN HELP YOUR CHILD AT HOME
Read with your child daily or as often as you can. Support your child’s phonics development by playing phonics play activities or simple eye-spy games linked to the phonemes. Support homework activities but please try to allow the children some time for independent work within homework tasks too. Sumdog is also a great website for the children to play whilst supported by an adult.
